Portrait: Pencil sketch
I copied this sketch from a book, and really liked how it turned out. I thoroughly enjoyed working on it, especially on her eyes and lips. :D The nose is quite imperfect, though. :(
It took around two days to complete most of it.

It looks great! Good job! I like the fact that it had a certain softness to it and the rendering reflects it too. Don't worry about the nose, it's the most tricky part of the face. Will get better with practice:)

DeleteOmigosh this is SO beautiful, Fatima!! 8D I really like how you drew and shaded the hair and the way it flows over the face. The expression is spot on too! I love how she has a sort of concerned expression there! :D I also really like the way you drew the lips - I'm so bad at drawing them! D: And nah I think you've drawn the nose fine! I've noticed a lot of artists draw a cartoony-style nose in their artwork, but then a lot find it difficult when attempting to draw noses in realism! xD I personally think the nose is one of the hardest features of the face to copy - specifically the bride of the nose and the way it goes up towards the eyes and how it must be shaded. It's quite complicated really! >.< I'd also like to say that you've done a great job on drawing the reflection of light in the eyes! :) Keep up the good work! <3

DeleteThank you so much! :D I really enjoyed drawing the lips, especially the details, like how the upper lip is slightly darker than the bottom one. I totally agree about the nose! It is very complicated; I had a tough time drawing it. Thanks! :) I believe catch-lights are very important in drawing portraits.
